6 February 2019

As you may recall from previous editions of Link we have 2 scouts from Horsell who were chosen with 6 others from the district to represent Woking scouts at the next World Jamboree in 2019
Here is a quick update from our Horsell boys ( Sam Wavish & Daniel Langley) on how the jamboree preparation are going
We have had a very busy year
As well as the 8 scouts from Woking there are scouts from all the other districts in Surrey going to the jamboree. We have all been mixed together into 3 Surrey units & get to go on camps with our unit every 6 weeks . We have already done lots of interesting things on these camps eg Monoploy run in London, kayaking, helping at Bazzazz and even tobogganing in the snow
We have also been working hard with the other Woking scouts to fundraise for the trip. Not only do we have to raise money to pay for ourselves to go but we must raise an extra amount to allow those not so well off in 3rd world countries the opportunity to go .We have sold Xmas trees, run welly throwing at several village shows ( including our own May Fayre), done bag packing, held quiz nights, a port tasting evening, presented at scout AGMs ,scout meetings & also to the Rotary Club and even organised a concert by an Everley Brothers tribute band
We have raised an amazing £12,000 so far and have until the end of March to raise the remaining £1,800.
Thank you to all of you who have supported us this year – please keep helping us to raise the rest.
