Horsell Scouts and Guides

Horsell Scout Group is very successful, with well over 100 members aged between 6 and 18years old. The Group is divided into 3 sections, Beavers, the Adventurers and Trail Blazers, Cubs, Baden-Powell and Brownsea packs, and Scouts, Gladstone and Somers troops . Horsell Headquarters is also the base for a well established Woking District Explorer Scout Unit, The Martians.

1st Horsell Scout Group was formed in 1911. If you would like to find out more about the group check out our History Page.

Girlguiding in Horsell is part of the Chobham and Horsell District. It is a flourishing Girlguiding unit with two busy Guide Units, three Brownies Packs, one of which is located in Halstead School, a Ranger group and a Rainbow Pack. All the groups are very popular with joining lists for new members.

Girlguiding will celebrate its 100 year centenary in 2010 and we at Horsell Guides are planning to celebrate this great event in style with a year full of camps, events and celebrations based around a water theme.

The Scouts and Guides are currently Fund-raising to replace our ageing HQ. We run two successful jumble sales a year, put on a Gang Show in town every other year together with a bi annual big bonfire at Woking's district scout campsite, Birchmere. By far our most successful and biggest fundraising event is the Horsell Scouts and Guides Grand May Fayre which has been a major community event for more than thirty years.

Our Headquarters is right in the middle of Horsell village. You can find us behind the War Memorial between the Red Lion car park and the Village Hall. Here are some handy directions. We meet every weekday in the school terms and if you drop by our hut will be buzzing with the sound of one or more of the packs, troops or units.
