History
90 years and still going strong
Horsell Scout Group was founded in October 1911, and continues to this day to be an integral part of the village community.
It was started by the Rev. E.J.Bentkey, the curate at St Mary's along with Granville Wallace and Canon Norman Pears, with just 30 boys.
Currently the Scout Group consists of seven units, two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Scout Packs, two Scout Troops and a Explorer Scout Unit, in total involving around 150 boys in the Scouting Movement.
We have seventeen warranted leaders running the Units, ably supported with excellent non-uniformed helpers and numerous parents who give of their free time to ensure that Scouting continues in Horsell.
All leaders, helpers and parents are committed to fund-raising in various ways, and the Group are indebted for their efforts and enthusiasm.
