Horsell's Sparkling Evening!

It was just one of those events that seemed to go so well - The weather on the night was just right. The large number of firework party goers all came to enjoy the evening and have fun ... Oh and the fireworks and bonfire were pretty good too!

Supported by an enthusiastic band of Martians the torchlight procession to the campsite seemed to go without a hitch. On arrival at Birchmere the expected chaos of instant BBQ food for 250 hungry mouths was not too bad. The Mr Good- Guy competition again proved to be a difficult decision due to the large number of truly elegantly dressed guys. (possibly better dressed that some of the visitors in fact!) However the winner of this very best dressed guy competition was judged to be from 3rd Horsell Guides - well done. After the formalities all that was left was to enjoy the spectacular fireworks (much better than last time I was told) and watch that huge bonfire do it's best to ruin the campsite grass!

It was a good evening, in fact a "very good evening" Thank you!

A successful event such as this does not happen with out a huge amount of work by those behind the scenes. Thank you to the ticket sellers, the shoppers, the transporters, the tent pitchers, the bonfire makers, those chef's, the safety and first aid chaps, the lighting and people, all those Martians Explorer Scouts, the silly people who stayed till very very late on Saturday to take tents down and the desperately unlucky people who braved a very wet Sunday to complete the job.

However may I thank two ladies who seemed to mean so much before and on the night? Carole Croft the main organiser of the event and Lucy Longley who stayed up well after her bedtime on Saturday night to help clear up and always seemed to be smiling!
