Trail Blazer Beaver Scouts

During the past year, the Trailblazers have been very busy beavers indeed. The Centenary of Scouting in 2007 gave us an ideal opportunity to try for a Beaver record - could we earn 100 badges? The journey to 100 involved learning sign language, visiting our local church, finding out about pets and collecting money for the RSPCA. We made it - and made a cake to celebrate which we all shared.

Since then, amongst other things, we have learnt about aeroplanes, healthy eating and Chinese New Year. We have made our own drums and had a campfire sing-song. We also had a Christmas party and a visit to a pantomime.

Now we are looking forward to a new year with lots of new Beaver friends, and a chance to join with the older boys in Horsell to make new cub and scout friends too.

Past Activities

The Trailblazers have been very busy during the past year. Beavers Scout Fun Day at Birchmere campsite was great. We met other Beavers from all over Woking District. Soon after that, we had a party with the Adventurers and 8th Woking Beavers to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee. We had races in the park, and then we had tea and a visit from "the Queen" who presented us with our medals.

A few of us were lucky enough to go to Windsor Castle on Sunday 2nd June to see the real thing! The Queen came over and spoke to us, asking us where we were from. Brilliant!

A visit to Safeway was next. We tried out the fresh juice then made our very own pizzas which we ate in the restaurant.

We collected pennies for the charity "Sightsavers" in sweet tubes. By doing this, we made a new friend, Dot from Bridge Court. She heard about our collection and set about collecting pennies from her friends. She is now a special friend of our colony, and has been to visit us. We look forward to seeing her again soon.

We visited Horsell Sandpits for an evening of games, a barbeque and a campfire. Speaking of fires, our next visit was to Woking Fire Station. We met the fire-fighters and we were allowed to sit in the fire engines.

All in all, we have had some had a very exciting meetings... a visit from some snakes, a trip to see a pantomime, a Christmas party, a trip to Painshill Park to learn about the weather... So if you think your son might be interested in becoming a Beaver Scout and joining in with all these exciting activities, please contact the Group Scout Leader, or speak to one of the Leaders.

If you, your son or daughter is aged between 6 and 8 and would like to join the Beavers then please contact the Group Scout Leader and he will get in touch.
