1st Horsell Baden-Powell Cub Scout Pack
The Baden Powell Cub Pack meet on a Wednesday evening between 6.00pm and 7.30pm. 2008 was another great year for the pack. During the year we:- had 4 boys move on to Scouts, 11 boys move up to the pack from Beavers and had one leader, sadly, move on to Beavers;
- gave a brilliant performance at the gang show;
- learnt a lot about mapping and navigation, emergency aid and DIY;
- found out about scouting in Malawi and hiked with other sections in our group and cubs from other units to raise over eight hundred pounds to help it grow;
- spent loads of time on the common where we tried tracking, orienteering and bivouacking as well as fitting in a back woods cooking evening with the Somers troop (thanks for the invite Skip!);
- attended some great events run by Woking District including the sports evening, the back to basics day, the science day and District Camp (big thanks to Linda and her team);
- managed to somehow fit in a camp with the Brownsea Pack (who would believe you could cook a cake in an orange skin or steam fish in newspaper!!);
- visited the RAF Museum at Hendon and the fire and police stations;
- did some good turns such as joining in with others from the village to help clear up litter and parading with the rest of the group on Remembrance Sunday;
- had the opportunity for two cubs, Khan and myself to meet Peter Duncan, the Chief Scout; and
- played lots of games and had fun and still found time to earn a few badges!
If you, your son or daughter is aged between 8 and 10 and would like to join the Cubs then please contact the Group Scout Leader and he will get in touch.
