Brownsea Cub Scouts

Camping is an integral part of Scouting. One of the highlights of the cub year is the summer weekend District Challenge camp, which by its name is designed to challenge the older cubs to improve their scouting skills.

This year cubs from Brownsea and Baden-Powell arrived loaded with their equipment for the weekend. Only one boy forgot his sleeping bag! Friday evening 110 excited cubs took part in a wide game based on Star Wars.

This was followed by just a few hours sleep, to top up the batteries before embarking on a full Saturday doing challenges such as abseiling, backwoods cooking, assault course, orienteering, archery, first aid and air rifle shooting.

Before lights out the traditional campfire was held.

Sunday consisted of inter pack challenge games before breaking camp. The boys went home tired but happy, Akela went home exhausted! All this and camp food too! What more could a cub scout want!

If you, your son or daughter is aged between 8 and 10 and would like to join the Cubs then please contact the Group Scout Leader and he will get in touch.
