We ARE the Champions!
The Great Go Kart Race aka the Woking Explorer Challenge Camp took place at Birchmere over the weekend of 18th and 19th October.
We'd spent the previous couple of weeks designing and building our 3 wheeler with extra help from Ashleigh and Tom W's dads (special thanks to them) and a couple of old bicycles. A bit of welding and a few decorative elements later and the "Pintomobile" was ready. (Named after our esteemed Explorer Scout Commissioner)
The race itself was only part of the challenge - we also had a cooking competition and a pub quiz (without the pub), a 5 a side rugby tournament and a pioneering challenge - to build a chariot out of wooden poles.
Overall, The Martians (that's us) won the competition and we are now the holders of the annual challenge trophy, having beaten all the other Explorer units in Woking. Not that we're boasting or anything but we won it last year as well.
We all had a great time and we have to thank the organisers of the event and everyone who came along to help.
