Gladstone Gear Up
Quite early (well it was for me) on a quite dry Sunday morning, Gladstone Scouts geared themselves up in some working gloves, some funky safety glasses and, kitted out with some loppers and bow saws, walked their way into Horsell Common.
At this point you are wondering what level of destruction Gladstone Scouts are planning. Not to worry this was all in the name of the environment! We joined members of Horsell Common Preservation Society to do our part for the community and environment by removing scrub, mainly small birch and pine trees from areas of heathland to encourage it to grow. Sadly, to the Scouts disappointment, they were not allowed to fell trees over 10 feet high.
We made impressive headway, but we weren't able to clear it all and we will be returning in the new year to aid the HCPS. If you would like to join us next time, just let us know.
