Somers Scouts

Somers Scouts have gone from strength to strength over the past year. We held our meetings at Shey Copse during the summer and played a variety of games, built shelters and learned some pioneering skills.

The autumn term began with some one-pot cooking and some very brave taste-testing parents. Pumpkin carving and Guy making followed and the creativity continued with their completion of the Creative Challenge before Christmas.

A night hike on Horsell Common followed and, having managed not to lose any of them, we all went donutting at Aldershot Dry ski slope as an end of term treat.

The new year saw us learning to sew on our own badges(!) and wire a plug as we undertook out DIY badge. A visit from the Crime Reduction Officer from Woking Police, and a trip to The Ambassadors Cinema for a behind the scenes tour of the projection rooms followed The Community Challenge Badge saw us once again on Horsell Common, taking part in a "pine-pulling" with the HCPS.

Always keen to try new foods, we made stir fry noodles to celebrate Chinese New Year, and chocolate sandwiches cooked in the embers of a fire to celebrate..chocolate sandwiches!

We're looking forward to getting out and about again at Shey Copse during the summer months, and to beating the Guides (again!) at the May Fayre Challenge.

If you, your son or daughter is aged between 10 and 14 and would like to join the Scouts then please contact the Group Scout Leader and he will get in touch.
