JAMBOREE ARTICLE

As you may recall from previous editions of Link we have 2 scouts from Horsell who were chosen with 6 others from the district to represent Woking scouts at the next World Jamboree in 2019

Ridgeside Falconry

Ridgeside Falconry is the largest mobile display team in the country providing County Shows, Carnivals, Fairs and Special Event Days with Falconry Demonstrations.
Ridgeside Birds of Prey Demonstrations consist of a static display of approximately 15 Birds of Prey from around the world, including owls, falcons, hawks, eagles and vultures, plus spectacular free flying displays lasting between 20-30 minutes each.

Woking Scouts in Ypres

On November 9th, Woking District disembarked across the channel with 72 Scouts and 43 leaders, ready for a packed remembrance weekend in Ypres, Belgium.
Ypres played a significant part in history. Here British Soldiers fought in World War One. After a 3hr journey, the Scouts arrived at De Karmel, our accommodation for the weekend, situated just outside Brugge. After a good night’s sleep (for most!) and a hearty breakfast, we visited the Yorkshire Trench on Saturday. The Scouts got to experience the tight quarters and how cramped and challenging it would …

I’m going to tell you a story….

I’m going to tell you a story……
In the Hampshire countryside there lived an old gentleman whose life was turned upside down when his wife died. He carried on, well you have to, but leading a life when he didn’t go out that much and meet many people. Very regrettably he too died last year. The local community came together to clear his bungalow for the family who were also quite old and lived a long way away.

Ann Harrington is pretty well known in Horsell for all the many committees that she attends and all the many clubs that she supports. Venue: Wheatsheaf Recreation Ground, Chobham Road, Woking, GU21 4BL

3rd Horsell Brownies Visit Eagle Radio

22nd June 2017 – Eagle radio studio tour
The 3rd Horsell Brownies visited eagle radio studios as part of their speaker badge.
They were warmly welcomed by eagle radio and shown the many different aspects of producing a radio show.
During their visit they:

Rang the bell which signified that the sales team had made money.
Had a live interview with Lewis Mason on the drive-time show.
Recorded their own interview with each other.
Interviewed the newscaster and the sales team leader.
Saw where major meetings were held.
Learnt to be quiet while on air.
